The same Chinese characters with the same pronunciation can have different meanings. Here the examples:
1. 点(diǎn) to order (food in a restaurant), o’clock, a little
我(wǒ)想(xiǎng)点(diǎn)一(yī)份(fèn)炒饭(chǎofàn)，请(qǐng)放(fàng)点(diǎn)盐(yán)，请问(qǐngwèn)这里(zhèlǐ)几点(jǐdiǎn)关门(guānmén)？
2. 打(dǎ) to hit, to fight, to play (a game)
为了(wèile)打(dǎ)游戏(yóuxì)，兄弟(xiōngdì)打架(dǎjià), 弟弟(dìdi)被(bèi)哥哥(gēge)打(dǎ)一(yī)拳(quán)了(le)。
3. 看(kàn) to look at, to read, to watch, to visit, to treat (an illness), to depend on.
我(wǒ)说(shuō)，一家人(yījiārén)在一起(zàiyīqǐ)，不一定(bùyīdìng)有(yǒu)很(hěn)好(hǎo)的(de)感情(gǎnqíng)。要看(yàokàn)情况(qíngkuàng)，像(xiàng)我(wǒ)家人(jiārén)，他们(tāmen)都(dōu)自己(zìjǐ)忙(máng)自己(zìjǐ)的(de)事(shì)，我(wǒ)父亲(fùqīn)不(bù)看(kàn)病人(bìngrén)就(jiù)看(kàn)报纸(bàozhǐ)，我(wǒ)母亲(mǔqīn)不(bù)做菜(zuòcài)就(jiù)看(kàn)电视(diànshì)。你(nǐ)可以(kěyǐ)来(lái)我(wǒ)家(jiā)看看(kàn kan)。
4. 花(huā) flower, to spend (money, time)
5. 小(xiǎo) small, young, few
小时候(xiǎoshíhou)我(wǒ)邻居(línjū)养(yǎng)很(hěn)多(duō)小狗(xiǎogǒu)。他(tā)说(shuō)，养(yǎng)狗(gǒu)花(huā)很(hěn)多(duō)钱(qián)。养(yǎng)动物(dòngwù)比(bǐ)种花(zhònghuā)收益(shōuyì)更(gèng)小(xiǎo)。
