Here you continue to learn Chinese similar characters with different pronunciation and meanings.

1a. 看(kàn)

b. 着(zhe) indicates a continuous state

Example:

我(wǒ)以前(yǐ​qián)最(zuì)喜欢(xǐ​huan)麻辣烫(má​là​tàng), 但是(dàn​shì)后来(hòu​lái)胃(wèi)不好(bù​hǎo),就(jiù)不(bù)吃(chī)了(le)。现在(xiàn​zài)如果(rú​guǒ)看(kàn)着(zhe)别人(bié​ren)吃(chī)就(jiù)流(liú)口水(kǒu​shuǐ),想(xiǎng)吃(chī)但(dàn)吃(chī)不了(bù​liǎo),太(tài​)辣(là)了(le)。

2a. 砍(kǎn) to cut down

b. 吹(chuī) to blow

Example:

他(tā)砍树(kǎn​shù)时(shí),听到(tīng​dào)人(rén)吹(chuī)笛子(dí​zi​),吹(chuī)一(yī)首(shǒu)老歌(lǎo​gē),他(tā)想(xiǎng)知道(zhī​dào)是(shì)谁(shéi)吹(chuī)的(de),就(jiù)去(qù)找(zhǎo)那个(nà​ge)声音(shēng​yīn)。后来(hòu​lái)才(cái)知道(zhī​dào)原来(yuán​lái)是(shì)她(tā)吹(chuī)的(de)。

6a. 士(shì) honorific

Example:

土(Tǔ)女士(nǚ​shì),今天(jīn​tiān)真(zhēn)吉利(jí​lì),有(yǒu)时间(shí​jiān)的话(de​huà)我们(wǒ​men)吃(chī)一(yī)碗(wǎn)古香古色(gǔxiānggǔsè)的(de)面(miàn)吧(ba)。
