Chinese Words Related to Animals – Part 2

Here you learn some common Chinese words related to animals.

1. 海狮(hǎi​shī) sea lion

Example:

A: 海狮(hǎi​shī)属于(shǔ​yú)鱼类(yú​lèi)吗(ma)？

B: 虽然(suī​rán)在(zài)海洋(hǎi​yáng)动物(dòng​wù)中(zhōng)游泳(yóu​yǒng)速度(sù​dù)快(kuài)的(de)动物(dòng​wù)但(dàn)不(bù)属于(shǔ​yú)鱼类(yú​lèi)，它(tā)属于(shǔ​yú)哺乳动物(bǔ​rǔ​dòng​wù)。

A: 它(tā)为什么(wèi​shén​me)叫做(jiào​zuò)海狮(hǎi​shī)呢(ne)？

2. 啄木鸟(zhuó​mù​niǎo) woodpecker

Example:

土耳其(Tǔ​’ěr​qí)安哥拉猫(Ān​gē​lāmāo)是(shì)最(zuì)古老(gǔ​lǎo)的(de)品种(pǐn​zhǒng)之一(zhī​yī)，它(tā)属于(shǔ​yú)比较(bǐ​jiào)名贵(míng​guì)的(de)猫(māo)种类(zhǒng​lèi)。

4. 树袋熊(shù​dài​xióng​) or考拉(kǎo​lā) koala

Example:

树袋熊(shù​dài​xióng​)是(shì)澳大利亚(Ào​dà​lì​yà)的(de)特有(tè​yǒu)种(zhǒng)有袋类(yǒu​dài​lèi​)动物(dòng​wù)，夜间(yè​jiān)活动(huó​dòng)，对(duì)食物(shí​wù)非常(fēi​cháng)​挑剔(tiāo​ti)。

5. 鲨鱼(shā​yú) shark

Example:
